How can our organization get a toolbar?

Go to signup and fill out the form.  You must be an authorized employee of your charity.

So, what does the toolbar do?

Basically, it allows your donors to give you money for free through shopping and searching online, and also allows you to engage them through a private messaging system. 

How do we get a Facebook application and what does it do?

At the time you have your toolbar made, we can also create a Facebook application for you free of charge.  The purpose of this application is to help you get more toolbar supporters and to have the potential to use the viral nature of Facebook to sign up a massive amount of new supporters.

Does this cost anything?

NO.  Our services are free.

How is this money FREE?

Your cause will get this money for free because the merchants pay us money for sending you to their stores and buying stuff.  They don't pay unless you buy something, so they are just funneling back a percentage of what you spend rather than keeping all of it.  Yahoo! pays us to send people to use their search engine.  When somebody searches, we get paid when they click on a sponsored link.

If you're on Facebook, you can download the toolbar from there.  You can get the links to the organizations Facebook apps at the link below.  Or, you can download the toolbar from your cause's toolbar download page, which you can find here

How do I donate by shopping online?

Whenever you shop at one of our Participating Merchant sites, a percentage of your purchase will be donated to your toolbars benefitting organization.  The percentage differs for each merchant.  For a list of percentage donations, see our Merchant List.  In order for your purchase to generate a donation, you simply type their website address of the store in your browser as you normally would.  The toolbar will recognize you as a Toolbar member and will make sure your purchases generate donations.  So you simply shop as you normally would, only now, that shopping can make a difference :-)

I use more than one computer for online shopping. What should I do?

You should install the toolbar on EVERY computer that you make online purchases from.  You can't link them together at this time, but you can just add up the totals to see how much you have generated.

Can I sign up my organization or cause for a toolbar?

We would love to have your cause in this program.  If you would like to tell us about your cause and give us a referral, we would be happy to contact them.  Only administrators at a charity can actually commission a toolbar to be made though.

Can I benefit more than one cause at a time?

Unfortunately not.  We have decided to make this as simple as possible, so for the time being you should put your full force behind your chosen cause.

When I shop online, how do I ensure my cause will receive a donation?

There are two ways to shop online and make sure your organization receives your donations. First, you have to download the toolbar.  Then, you can either select the merchant from the drop down list on the toolbar, or you can simply type the URL of the merchant directly into your address bar.  If you are on a qualifying merchant website, the green donation button will light up and you'll see a green message come down from the toolbar displaying the donation amount.

How do I maximize the donation potential for my cause?

Tell lots of people! Getting the toolbar is the first step.  In order to maximize the donation potential, you need to tell as many friends, family, coworkers, acquaintances, etc.  You can use the Tell A Friend right in the drop down menu of your toolbar.  The more members supporting your cause, the more donations your cause will receive.  You can also get the toolbar and help spread the word on Facebook.

Is shopping through my toolbar secure?

Yes.  Security is something we feel very strongly about.  When you make a purchase at a merchant's website, all of your information is processed at that store.  We do not have access to credit card information etc. that is used at checkout with our merchant partners.

How do I know how much I have donated to my organization?

Click on the dollar amount in your toolbar and you'll see some statistics.

When are my donations sent to my organization?

The accumulated donations are sent your supported organization at the end of each quarter of the year.

How are my donations calculated?

Your donations are calculated by the full percentage offered of the purchase price (purchase price does not include tax, shipping, or handling).  Some merchants offer the same percentage on all their products and services, and some merchants offer different percentages on certain products.  Occasionally, a merchant will will choose not to offer a donation on certain products.  If you have a question on the percentages offered by a specific merchant, Contact Us and we will be happy to answer your question.

How long does it take for my donations to be posted?

Donations for Searches post right away.  Posting time for donations related to shopping is different for each merchant.  Some take one day and others up to 6 weeks.  The majority of our merchants will report their donations within 30 days.  If it has been longer than 8 weeks and your purchase has still not shown up in your account, please contact Customer Support.  Note: Some travel sites will not post the donations until after the travel has occurred.

How do I sign up my favorite organization?

Ask them to have a toolbar made!  If you know somebody at a specific charity, please refer them to us.  The best way is to hear it directly from you (their supporter!) that you want to support them with a toolbar.

How do I uninstall the Toolbar on Firefox?

In Firefox, click on Click Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions, then select Donation Toolbar and click Uninstall.  Restart Firefox to complete the removal process.

How do I uninstall the Toolbar on Internet Explorer?

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel. Double-click "Add/Remove Programs". Click "Donation Toolbar", then "Remove".
